Graphics, Mac Tools, Carquest, Advanced Auto, BP Oil/gas, Barker’s
Racing Supply, Smitty’s Transmission, Everson’s Auto Parts, Johnson Oil,
Orness Creaitons, CSK Proshop, Specialty Fabricating, Matco Tools.
Series sponsors were Dempsey Truck Service of Grand Forks, and Service
Tire, Inc. of The Series ran under the DTRA banner along with the support of the MDRA. The combined total of all prizes, cash, tire sales, track funds, and the series sponsors totaled just over $30,000. Drivers in the top ten all received their trophy, point fund check, and contingency prizes at the banquet while drivers in eleventh through twentieth, all received a point fund check with most receiving prizes also. The trophy’s were purchased by Orness Creations while they also paid for special appreciation plaques given to; both hosting tracks, the two series sponsors, three drivers for perfect attendance, (Strand, Sobolik, & Hultstrand). Ryan Schroeder was awarded the Rookie of the year plaque just before all the the trophies were handed out. The Series point fun is derived mainly from tire sales. This is a major factor along with the series sponsors and supporters. Without the supporters, the series would not have become reality. 2008 should be an interesting year with many new drivers to add to the already long list of returning drivers. If you or your business would like to be involved with our series, please contact Mike Orness at 701-351-3030.
Devils Lake Speedway Unites with River Cities
Speedway to host the inaugural Midwest Modified Racing Series Devils Lake Speedway joins River Cities Speedway to bring the areas first racing series for Midwest Modifieds under a dual sanction with NOPA and DTRA. The Midwest Modifieds will race at River Cities Speedway, Grand Forks, ND, Friday nights and Devils Lake Speedway, Doyon, ND, on Saturday nights in 2007. Devils Lake Speedway hosted the Midwest Modified division under the WISSOTA banner in 2005 and 2006. River Cities Speedway made the announcement to replace their Super Stock division with the Midwest Modifieds. This series will be ran using the Goodyear Racing tires and will provide a total of almost $35,000 in point fund money and contingency awards. The marriage of these two tracks is a perfect combination that will help give a centralized location to Midwest Modified race teams, thereby allowing race teams to limit expenses on travel and build a local point fund through the support of sponsors, sanctions/tracks, and the sale of Goodyear tires. This announcement promises to bring a competitive type of wheel to wheel racing for the race fans enjoyment and an opportunity for the local racer to compete for one of the areas largest point funds. The Midwest Modified division is the fastest growing division in dirt track racing and will help add to an already ultimate racing experience at both tracks! The potential for this series is tremendous and will open the doors for the local race team. Promoters have raised an unprecedented amount of cash for the point fund along with contingency prizes and awards. Dempsey Truck Service of Grand Forks will be the class sponsor at River Cities Speedway and Service Tire of Devils Lake will be the class sponsor at Devils Lake Speedway. There have been approximately twenty other contingency sponsors adding in cash awards and certificates. One hundred percent of the net sales of Goodyear tires will also go directly into the point fund. River Cities Speedway who has announced the replacement of their Super Stock division with Midwest Modifieds for the 2007 season, will also keep their Outlaw Sprints, Super Late Models, and Street Stock divisions. The addition of the Midwest Modifieds to their Premier Racing Series, will only upgrade their status as the Action Track of the upper Midwest. Devils Lake Speedway has ran the Midwest Modified division for the past two years, and joins the partnership with River Cities, NOPA, and DTRA in hopes of bringing this series to a whole new level for our local racers and race fans. Devils Lake Speedway will be hosting Midwest Modifieds, Hornets, Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks for the 2007 racing season. Mike Orness of Orness Creations, a series supporter and sponsor, was appointed to promote the series and coordinate details with all partners involved with the series. A webpage is in development and will have all the details and final point fund amounts prior to the 2007 racing season along with all news releases and a full schedule. Watch for more details that will be announced in the upcoming weeks. The grand unveiling will be at the Devils Lake Speedway Banquet, November 4th, 2006.
